Border Crossing : Vietnam - China

Vietnam - China border crossings are the most crowded ones and known as ideal places for shopping and getting bargains. There are three border crossings:

1. Mong Cai (Vietnam) - Dong Hung (China),

2. Dong Dang - Ping Xian

3. Lao Cai - Hekou

All border crossings are in the northeast of Vietnam. It is easy to get to Mong Cai from Quang Ninh province or Halong City while from Sapa, Lao Cai,

Tourists could find the fastest way to Kunning through Lao Cai/Hekou border gate. If departing from Lang Son and heading to China, you had better to get to Dong Dang/ Ping Xian border gate and conversely, coming from China through Dong Dang border gate, you certainly get to Hanoi easily.

Trains : China - Vietnam

DEPARTURE:

* Beijing to Hanoi and Guilin to Hanoi

Depart from China Railway Stations Beijing, Guilin, Nanning and arrival Vietnam Railway Station: Gia Lam/Hanoi (Gia Lam is 7 km away from Hanoi city center, 25mn by taxi).

Z5 train runs twice a week from Beijing West to Hanoi every Sunday and Thursday, the whole train journey for 2,804kms dure 37,5 hours (taking 2 overnight on train), having 3 points to get off train for security check at: Nanning, Pingxiang and Dong Dang.

* Nanning to Hanoi

Nanning to Hanoi everyday, the whole train journey for 396kms dure 12-13 hours (taking 1 overnight on train), having 2 points to get off train for security check at: Pingxiang and Dong Dang.

*Kunming to Hanoi

There is no direct train for Kunming – Hanoi. You can plan your trip in mixed of bus and train or buses

By bus crossing the border Kunming East Bus Station to Hekou/LaoCai

Buses depart from Kunming/China at 11:00, 11:40 and 19:30 arrive Hekou/Laocai, Vietnam after 7 hours journey.
